Modern Masters of Wet Plate Photography

Wet Plate, or collodion, is one of the first photography methods to have ever been used. Introduced in the 1850's, this complicated technique involves developing images on glass or tin. It is still practiced today as a labor of love. Mark Sink and Ed Ross are both modern day masters who have fine-tuned their craft to create beautifully haunting portraits.

Each piece is perfectly flawed. The smudged finger prints against the glass, the scratches and tarnishing on the tin, along with the captivating faces--un-photoshopped and raw--combine to create visually striking photographs.

Mad Monster Party?

I stumbled upon this stop motion comedy film from the 60's a few days ago, and have since watched it twice with my roommate. The visuals are amazing, and the quotes are priceless.

The voice behind the mad scientist is actually this guy:

Borris Karloff

Who more famously played...

Frankenstein's monster in Frankenstein (1931) and later, Bride of Frankenstein (1935).

The cast in Mad Monster Party include Allen Swift, Gale Garnett, Phyllis Diller and Ethel Ennis.
This spoof on horror themes is an amazing piece of art and has inspired my roommate and I to create our own stop motion film.

I'll let you know how it turns out :)

The production of light as a result of the passing of sound waves through a liquid medium. The sound waves cause the formation of bubbles that emit bright flashes of light when they collapse.

A Metaphor for the in-between moments, where every experience in life emits a little light. The vibrations that make up sound waves show that we are alive. And although these moments may collapse, that flash of light will stay with us forever. Building character and bringing us towards our individual goals.

My name is Jax and I am at that in-between moment, heading towards sonoluminescence. Currently at university, I'm in the midst of making important decisions and am contemplating any and all of the following career paths: composer, guitarist, inventor, shadowmaster. This blog features my interests and my passions, these are the things that I find worth sharing. This is my family dinner table, you're welcome to come take a seat and join the conversation.
